Gareth Bale wanders around Tottenham's training facilities like a ghost these days. The Welshman, who has firmly made his mind up to leave English football, has completely withdrawn from any involvement in the club's sporting side, to the degree that he basically turns up to training whenever he feels like it. This is his form of protest against Daniel Levy's tough approach in negotiations with Real Madrid.

Bale has been training by himself for the last two weeks now. He's claiming to have picked up an injury to his right foot, and he's managed to separate himself from the day to day activities with Villas Boas and the rest of the team. Whilst the squad has been training on the pitch, Bale has been reclusive, training in the gym with a trusted physio. This is how he's running down the clock before he moves to Real Madrid.

Bale has even stopped speaking to his coach and the majority of his teammates. "We only see him turn up and leave… although there are days when we don't see him at all", some Tottenham players revealed to MARCA. Villas Boas said as much himself in an interview with ESPN: " Nobody knows Gareth's state of mind because he doesn't speak. The only thing we see is the player coming in and out of the training ground".

On a number of occasions, as happened on Friday, they don't even see him arriving. Bale turned up at Tottenham's sports complex at 10:28 a.m., just two minutes prior to the training session starting out on the pitch.

Gareth Bale is running out of patience. His anger is only growing as the days tick by. The Welshman thinks that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has gone too far. He doesn't understand why Levy has to continue blocking negotiations when the biggest transfer fee in the history of football has already been laid on the table.

Bale feels that he's done everything humanly possible to arrange his transfer to Real Madrid on amicable terms that suit all parties involved. That said, his efforts in good faith appear not to have been reciprocated. He's tried to do the business without resorting to any kind of public clash, but if his hand is forced, he'll do it. He's unwavering, and Levy knows it.

Bale is biting his tongue for the good of a transfer that, sooner or later, will be completed. He'll only use the final bullet he has left in the chamber if he sees his desired transfer to Real Madrid put at risk at the last minute.

And it all relates to a bargain that Levy has not kept. The chairman gave his word that if Real Madrid came asking and Tottenham hadn't qualified for the Champions League then he would entertain negotiations. That's not what's happened. The Welshman feels betrayed, and he's considering making his feelings public so that he's no longer perceived as the 'bad guy' by Tottenham fans.

Francisco 'Isco' Alarcón appeared before the media two days before the league opener. The Spaniard maintained the upbeat attitude which has prevailed within the club since the preseason began and assured that Carlo Ancelotti is the ideal man to take charge of the Real Madrid dugout. "His philosophy is perfect for Madrid this year. I’m sure we will see great things from Real Madrid."

"He is a manager who is in touch with his players, who is always talking to you," added the midfielder, before describing the team's style of play. "The manager is calling for possession, intelligence, creativity and pressure up front so we don't wear ourselves out. It is the style that best suits us players who like to pass the ball, to play one-twos. We're going to see attractive football from Madrid, and it will achieve great things."

Isco also remarked on his expectations for the season. "I came here with the greatest of hopes and eager to work hard. Thanks to the boss and my teammates, I have settled in quickly and easily. I'm delighted and can't wait for the good times to come." "I will try to do my job. It's true I've started in every game, but it’s the boss who has the final word on Sunday. You don't get anything for free here at Madrid, so it's time to get to work. I hope to play a lot."

He was also asked the obligatory question about Gareth Bale: "I think what everyone else thinks; that he's a great player. If he comes, it's the manager’s problem – but what a great problem to have. He would receive the same welcome as everyone else who has come.
